Embarrassing mistake on side of this state-of-the-art police van cost force more than just pride

The embarrassing blunder was played out on social media

A police force was left red-faced after they proudly unveiled a new mobile station only to find it had two hard-to-miss spelling mistakes emblazoned on it.
The state-of-the-art van was revealed on Warwickshire Police's Twitter account after chiefs commissioned the fancy moving police station.
But they were forced to admit their fault when it emerged the villages of Shipston-on-Stour and Wellesbourne had been incorrectly spelled on the side of the vehicle .
Colleagues in Rugby pointed out the gaffe when their police account picked up on the badly-spelt mistake.
Others joked the force should ask for a refund for the fully kitted out Peugeot Boxer van, reported the Coventry Telegraph .

Warwickshire Police would not say how much was paid for the van or the artwork - but the cost of the vehicle is likely to have been much more than the manufacturer’s recommended retail price of between £25,000 and £35,000.
A spokesman said the force was looking into the cost of fixing the mistake on the 2016 vehicle which is fitted out with a flat screen TV and on board wi-fi.

Proudly unveiling the vehicle on March 11, the North Warwickshire Police Twitter account said: “#MeetTheFleet VO16CJX On board WiFi, 240v on board supply, flat screen TV, coming to a village near you soon!”

The names of two nearby villages were spelt incorrectly
That prompted the Rugby Police Twitter account to highlight the spelling blunder before police in Shipston tweeted: “I think you need to ask for a refund.”
Seemingly seeing the funny side, North Warwickshire Police replied: “For sale 2016 mobile police station, 187 miles, slight artwork issue.”

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Warwickshire Police is aware of two spelling errors on the side of a mobile police station van in North Warwickshire.
“We are currently working to resolve this mistake as quickly and cost effectively as possible.”
