OBAMA will not meet his cousin, RAILA ODINGA, due to insecurity - US State Department

The US State Department has today told the Kenyan Government that US President, Barrack Obama, who will visit the country in July, will only meet President Uhuru Kenyatta and his officials at State House, Nairobi.

In a letter copied to the US Embassy in Nairobi, the US State Department said due to the Garissa University College terror attack, the US Secret Service and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) revised their plans and Obama will only be allowed to visit State House Nairobi and the Global Enterpreneurship Summit venue at UN headquarters in Nairobi which is some meters from the US Embassy.

“The only two events that Obama will attend have been confirmed - the Global Entrepreneurship either on July 25 or 26 and a bilateral meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta,” a senior Embassy official said.

Obama will be in the country under the invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta who requested him to visit his father’s country of birth during his last visit to the United States.

On whether Opposition Leader Raila Odinga will meet his “distant cousin”, the official said Obama will only meet Kenya’s Head of State and senior Government officials.
