, a charity based in Wales
has won an prestigious Award in Wales ,UK
.The Gold start award which are endorsed by the UN aim
to ‘recognise the best to inspire the rest’ in volunteering and
community linking projects between Wales and Africa. It also recognizes
the contributions of Welsh civil society organisations in forging:
• Learning links
• Partnership links
• Development links.The aims and objectives of the charity are :
• To create an atmosphere where kids in Zanzibar can achieve their education regardless of their family background.
• To
campaign for the right of every child in Zanzibar to be in school as
soon as they reach school age no matter how poor the family may be.
• To work closely with educational institutions across UK and also in Zanzibar.
• To teach the young people especially in Zanzibar about business and the important of entrepreneurship.
Almost
30 organisations and ten individuals from across Wales were recognised
by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) for their work on tackling
poverty in 13 African nations at a celebratory event at the Senedd in
Cardiff Bay on 4 December.
Carwyn
Jones AM, First Minister of Wales addressed the ceremony and gave the
Welsh Government’s commitment to support Welsh organisations in fighting
global injustice and poverty into the future.He went on to say ” I am
deeply proud of what we have achieved through our Wales Africa
Community Links programme. None of this would have been possible without
the tireless work of the organisations and individuals who have been
involved.
Over
the last six years, Wales Africa Community Links has provided over
£570,000 worth of small grants to 301 projects that support community
development both in Wales and across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Heart is still in a developmental stage and seeks volunteers from any
background. They depend on the skills and knowledge of people to push
the dreams and aspirations forward.They also welcome donations either in
cash or kind, especially educational materials.
