Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce says he was "gobsmacked" by Adam Johnson guilty pleas to sexually abusing schoolgirl

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce says he has “no sympathy” for Adam Johnson after his child sex conviction.
The Sunderland boss opened his

press conference today by insisting his thoughts are with Johnson's 15-year old victim.
Allardyce said he only played Johnson on the basis that he was pleading “not guilty” when he took charge of the club in October.
Johnson is facing up to ten years in prison after being found guilty of one charge of sexual activity with a child.
He had already admitted a similar charge and another of grooming the teenage Sunderland fan on the first day of his trial at Bradford Crown Court.
Allardyce was the first person from the club to face questions about Johnson, who played 28 games for the club after his arrest a year ago.
