Policeman recoils in fear of stinky skunk spray after rescuing it from yogurt pot problem

A cop almost got sprayed by a skunk after stepping in to help the ungrateful animal.
Officer Merlin Taylor had approached the baby and managed to remove an empty yogurt pot that was stuck on its head.
The footage shows the creature frantically running around in circles while trapped as Taylor creeps closer with a rubber glove.

The moment it is free it lifts its tail with menace and tries to fire off a jet of smelly liquid - but it is too young.
The cop leaps backwards and then flees until he is out of strike range.

Colleague Sgt Mark Lyon said: "We all had a good laugh. It’s nice he was able to get there to help,” reported The Detroit News .
The footage was recorded by the dash cam in the police car.
