David Cameron caught singing a little song on his way back into Number 10

Did the Prime Minister forget his microphone was on? And was he singing Winnie the Pooh or the West Wing theme tune? We have so many questions

  • David Cameron was caught on microphone singing a little song on his way back into Number 10 - after announcing he'd be stepping down on Wednesday.
As he returned to Number 10 after giving one of the most important statements of his Prime Ministerial career - he cheered himself with a jaunty ditty.
He'd just announced that Tuesday's cabinet meeting will be his last, as will Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions - and he'll have to be packed up and moved out of Downing Street by Wednesday evening.
But as he sauntered back through the iconic black door, he was caught on an open microphone humming a cheerful tune - before saying to whoever was inside "....right. Good."
The Prime Minister's musical musings have sparked much debate online - over what exactly he was singing.

Some have suggested he was humming the theme to political drama The West Wing.

To my ear, this sounds quite jaunty, tbh.https://twitter.com/VinnyITV/status/752521551514312704
@janinegibson has a theory Cameron was aiming for the opening bars of the West Wing theme (here for comparison)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JivPEYjYd20
Perhaps he's been binge-watching box sets of the classic US show while he chillaxes and waits for the real-life political drama to die down.
Others have suggested he was channelling well known tune-hummer and fictional bear with very little brain, Winnie the Pooh.

In his statement, David Cameron said he was 'delighted' Theresa May will be the next Prime Minister, describing her as a strong and competent leader
