It appears the majority of readers believe William and Kate's second child will be a girl, with 82 per cent of the votes cast selecting a girl's name for the impending arrival. 31.1 per cent of readers thought William should pay tribute to his late mother Princess Diana should he welcome a daughter.

Alexandra was the second most popular choice with just under 18 per cent of votes. The moniker is the Queen's middle name and was a favourite choice for a girl throughout Kate's pregnancy in 2013.While Alice has been tipped the most popular name for a baby Princess with bookmakers, it only came third in our vote closely followed by Victoria.
If born on Tuesday, the royal baby could share a birthday with their great-grandmother the Queen, but only 8.2 per cent of readers believe they should share a name too. Elizabeth was the fifth choice for a girl with our readers.
