A young dad-to-be who was crushed to death by a parking barrier hours after telling family his partner was expecting their first child will be buried with a scan of his unborn child.
Will Page, 22, died when the metal barrier was caught by a gust of wind and swung through the windscreen of his van as he left a car park on an industrial estate.

Pregnant girlfriend Rachael Cross rushed to the scene after being alerted by a pal, but apprentice engineer Will was dead when she got there.

Nursery nurse Rachael, 21, said: “He’d left me in bed while he went to do up his car. His last words to me were ‘Love you, bye’ and off he went. That was the last time I saw him.”

Eight-weeks pregnant Rachael had a scan two days ago so Will can be buried with a photo of his unborn child. She vowed: “I’m determined now to be the best mum and dad there is.”

Will, from Stanley Common, Derbyshire, died on Saturday as he went to fetch a part for his beloved Peugeot 106 GTI, which he was repairing at an industrial estate in Ilkeston.
Rachael said: “The barrier was one you’re supposed to bolt back when you go through but Will hadn’t. As he came out a gust of wind blew it straight through the windscreen.”

The night before he died, he and close family members had celebrated girlfriend Rachael's pregnancy.

Friends and family have donated thousands of pounds online towards his funeral and to support Rachael and their baby. And 90 driver pals from a weekly car meet in Derby drove past his home in tribute.
Liverpool fan Will had two brothers - Callum, 25, and Harry, 18 - as well as 27-year-old sister Laura.
His dad Brian, 52, said: “"One minute he was telling everyone he was having a baby and over the moon - and the next this happened.
"He loved kids and being a father was everything he wanted. Everyone said he would have been a great dad."

A spokeswoman from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance said: "The man in question suffered significant chest injuries and, despite the best efforts of our critical care paramedics, we were unable to resuscitate him.
"He died at the scene. We are not sure how it happened. The barrier went through the windshield and crushed him."
Shanine Palmer, 22, a bar manager at the Three Horse Soes, in Derby Road, used to work with his younger brother Harry.
She said: "It's awful; my heart goes out to the family. I've been told he was doing up his car just before he died and now his friends are going to finish the job off for him."

Will's friend Lee Harris, 28, of Ilkeston, worked with him for about five years at A&D Plastics in Digby Business Park.
He was working when he got a call saying Will had been injured.
Mr Harris said: "It is not something you expect to hear. When I found out he had been involved in an incident, I walked up there thinking he had broken his leg.
"You do not think the worst. It was when I found out he was trapped that I realised it was bad.
"He was a great lad, I always got on with him and he one of those people you bond with through work. My brother Daniel was his best mate. They did everything together; fishing and holidays."
Andy Wilmott, managing director of WP Power Services where Will worked, said: "He was a lovely lad and everyone here is absolutely devastated.
"He was a trustworthy guy and very infectious. He had a lot of friends here and a lot of people liked him."
The HSE is investigating.
