The man left himself with two black eyes after being held in a cell waiting to be questioned by police. A prison inmate who filed an assault complaint against police officers was caught on camera punching himself in the face 45.
Aleksander Tomaszewski was being held in a cell in Oregon to be questioned by police when the 33-year-old launched the brutal attack on himself.
The 33-year-old, who was unaware of the security camera in the building, can be seen pacing up and down the cell, before hitting himself in the face.
He then filed a complaint against the police for assault. Deputies at the jail confirmed he had multiple facial injuries.
According to local newspaper The Register Guard, Tomaszewski was later told about the CCTV footage and admitted that he had made up the story in the hope of being released.
Deputies at the sheriff's department revealed that the man was being held in jail on charges that included stalking and sexual abuse.
Tomaszewski was sentenced to 20 days in jail for his coercion, 36 months of probation and a $500 fine.
For initiating a false report he received a further $100 fine and 20 additional days in prison .
