George is now focusing on his broadcasting and acting career after his fame skyrocketed after appearing on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out O f Here
George Shelley has fired back at Union J after they said they kicked him out of the band.
The baby-faced singer joined Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley, who were originally a three-piece called Triple J, on X Factor back in 2012.
But following on from his stint in the I'm a Celebrity jungle late last year, the trio thought his commitment wasn't there any longer and Josh said he gave him an ultimatum.
However, George's spokesperson told Mirror Celebs the 22-year-old's departure was a mutual decision so he could focus on his broadcasting and acting career.
"He is now a regular part of the Capital FM Breakfast Show, hosted the Brits Red Carpet Live and recently completed shooting on BBC3's Murder in Successville. He is an utterly charming and hard working individual - not a diva in the slightest."
"The fact of the matter is that the other members of Union J are simply jealous he has achieved the start of an exciting new career and they have not. George had agreed to be totally magnanimous towards them, but unfortunately this has not been reciprocated."
Josh said he would prefer to have someone on board who wanted to be there and admitted he wouldn’t be losing any sleep over the decision.
While Jaymi added to The Sun: “I am bitter about things that have happened. He wasn’t putting his the full effort in. One member is not bigger than the band and we feel that there should be no member who is bigger than the project.”
Union J have had four Top 10 singles and a Top 10 album since appearing on The X Factor in 2012.
They said they would be planning to recruit a new fourth member in coming weeks.
Union J tweeted on Sunday: "The three best friends that anyone could have" - with a photo of Josh, Jaymi and JJ, posing together without George.
Since appearing on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, George has gone on to become a regular presenter for Capital FM.

"I want to start 2016 with a clean slate. I don't feel that I should hide anything. I went into the jungle and it gave me a lot of time to reflect on what is important to me.
"And what is important to me is that I should be myself. I've been reading a lot of speculation online as to whether i'm straight or gay or bi. Its all these labels and it's a little bit old fashioned and this is why I'm not going to label it myself.
"I've had girlfriends that I've loved. But I've also had boyfriends. I want you to know that whether I decide to be with a girl next or be with a guy next it's because I love them. It shouldn't be a big deal."
