Kevin Nicks decided to bling the changes to his passé VW Passat by surrounding it in wood.
Now he boasts the world’s fastest shed .
Powered by a V6 engine, he can varnish over the horizon at an impressive 88mph.
Eccentric gardener and part-time mechanic Kevin, 51, spent seven months and £5,000 pottering on his high-octane outbuilding.
But he had to dig deep to get his speedy motor on the road.
Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency bosses were not fans.

It took four-and-a-half months and a pleading letter to Prime Minister David Cameron to get a U-turn.
Mr Nicks, who lives near ex-Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson’s home in Chipping Norton, told the Sunday People : “When you pull up to lights it makes people smile because it just looks so wrong.”
The shed car is frequently photoed and Kevin thinks it would be good for advertising.
“What would be better? I can say ‘advertise on the side of the world’s fastest shed’.”
