The Orange Is The New Black actress has opened up about her own reasons for not having surgery to change her looks
Laverne Cox has been a big defender of Caitlyn Jenner during her transition, but it seems she doesn't share the same beliefs in terms of surgical procedures.
The Orange Is The New Black actress - who is also transgender - admitted while she used to want to have surgery and make herself look more feminine, now she is "happy" with what God gave her.
She told The Guardian: "I have been picking myself apart my whole life. I have never talked about the medical details of my transition, and a lot of people assume I've had all this surgery.
"Years ago, I wanted really highly invasive surgical procedures to feminise my face. All these years later, I have the money to do it, but I don't want it.
"I don't want it! I'm happy that this is the face that God gave me, and it's imperfect."
She also explained her decision to not focus on Caitlyn's physical beauty in a blog post updated earlier this month.
Laverne - who will make history as the first transgender Madame Tussauds waxwork - explained she wasnted to discuss an issue beyond "cisnormative beauty standards".
She added: "I thought there was a conversation that was not being had.
"It was about me wanting to acknowledge all those trans folks out there who don't have access to health care, who don't embody cisnormative beauty standards, even that cisnormative beauty standards are deeply problematic."
