Amber Peat went missing on Saturday after a row with her parents over household chores
Police searching for missing teenager Amber Peat are not treating the discovery of a body near her home as suspicious.
Amber, 13, went missing on Saturday after a row with her parents over household chores.
A huge hunt was launched, which included hundreds of local people forming search parties to knock on doors and scour the area.
But Nottinghamshire Police last night said in a statement: “Police searching for missing Amber Peat have this evening found a body.
“Officers are at the scene in Mansfield and inquiries are ongoing. No formal identification has taken place.”
Later this evening Nottinghamshire Police revealed they were not looking for anyone in connection with Amber’s disappearance.

A police spokesman said: “Amber’s family has been informed and we ask that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
“Officers are at the scene in Mansfield and inquiries are on-going. No formal identification has yet taken place. The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
The schoolgirl lived with her parents and sisters Riley, 12, and one-year-old Lily-Rose, on Mansfield’s Ladybrook estate. The family had just got back from a holiday in Cornwall when they rowed about cleaning a cool box.
Her distraught stepdad Danny Peat, 31, said: “We’d had our sandwiches in it on the journey home and it was a chore. She didn’t want to do it. I’m sure all teens are the same.”
Mum Kelly, 34, said: “I was in the living room and heard the front door slam. That’s when I realised she’d gone. I couldn’t see her anywhere.
“If you are watching this, or if anybody knows where she is, just send her home. Please.”
The teenager, who is just 4ft tall, left home without a mobile phone or any money, and had not been seen since.
Danny said Amber was not one to wander off, and added: “She doesn’t really go out. All she normally wants to do is read a book. She’s a real home girl. She wouldn’t be able to stay out.
“She’s a tiny little thing and the weather’s been freezing. We just want her to know she’s not in any trouble.
“We just need to know that she’s all right. She’s our little girl and we just want her home.”
He said the holiday to Cornwall was one of the best the family had been on. “Amber had a fantastic time,” he added. “We never stopped laughing, all of us together.”
A police spokesman said officers had been carrying out searches on a number of buildings near the family home yesterday but added there were no official suspects.
Last night they cordoned off a section of hedgerow beside an open area near Westfield Lane, not far from the family home.
