Pupils arriving back to school following a weekend off were left in shock after finding their teacher hanged in a classroom.
Students at the El Dorado High School in Placentia, California, pulled down the body of popular Jillian Jacobson at 8.30am yesterday.
Paramedics tried to revive the married 31-year-old but were unable to.
Captain Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority confirmed she died inside the classroom.
“It’s sad for the students and fellow teachers who witnessed that,” he added.
The tragedy is second to hit the photography teacher's family after her father took his own life.
She had always urged teens not to resort to suicide.
