Blundering cops jailed man for months over drugs possession - but later realised they were VITAMINS




The 31-year-old served 38 days behind bars before police realised their embarrassing mistake

An innocent man was forced to spend weeks in jail for possessing VITAMINS, with police taking months to realise their error.
Joey Burrell was arrested in November, and charged with two counts of drug possession.
The items sized off him were tested and came back positive for amphetamine but the 31-year-old, from Minnesota, was actually carrying powdered vitamins.
And with his bail set at $250,000 thanks to his criminal past and unrelated pending charges, he was stuck in jail.

He said: "I was furious, I was hot, I was pissed off.
"At the same time it was like, unbelievable."
It took three months for the official results to get back from the lab so he could clear his name.
Mr Burrell added: "I got arrested November 14, 38 days later, he finally sends the alleged amphetamines [to the] lab to get final test results."
